On the one hand, the authors are Russian, and on the other, this song is not without “Pesnyarov”! Ironically, the fate of the Soviet Union was also decided in the Forest - in December 1991, documents were signed at the Viskuli residence, in accordance with which the USSR ceased to exist.
So it is with Belovezhskaya Pushcha. No wonder, apparently, in voting for the right to be called one of the seven natural wonders of the world in the spring-summer of 2009, Belovezhskaya Pushcha took the fifth place in its - forest - category. She is an international relic. Most of all, the Polish and Belarusian people were lucky - the ancient forest is located on the territory of these states. October 3, 2009 on the Belarusian side of the national park is celebrated 600th anniversary from the date of establishment of the reserve regime, although it would be more correct to call it the date of protection of the forest. However, we will not go into the semantics, let's talk about these really great forests.
Pakhmutova and Dobronravov were not the first to glorify the beauty of these forests. In the distant 16th century, Mikola Gusovsky wrote the famous poem “A Song about Bison” commissioned by Pope Leo X, who wanted to know firsthand what kind of legendary land of the mighty Volat forest.
The pope died during the plague epidemic, and the work of the enlightener of Belarus could have been irretrievably lost, if not the patron of arts, Princess Bona Sforza. Later, when the forest was part of Tsarist Russia, great royal hunting took place here. Alas, nothing remained of the Pushcha’s castle of the Russian Tsars. But preserved fragments of the Great Royal Route, included in the tourist route.
I was lucky - I live an hour drive from the oldest forest in Europe. Nevertheless, I am not here often. Yes, and proceed all the unreal. As children we were taken only to the Museum of Nature and to the enclosures - to look at the legendary Pushcha bison. Then I did not know that the forest is huge, boundless, and there are places in it that can only be reached in exceptional cases - researchers, scientists.
But the most interesting: an excellent road leads to the Viskuli, built on the site of the narrow-gauge railway, which the Germans equipped to occupy. And now along this narrow road hundreds of young tourists go to the Residence of the Belarusian Santa Claus. His real name was not disclosed in order to preserve the tale longer. By the way, near the residence you can often find free bison herds that come to these places to feed in the winter.
And in the summer, when you don’t want to think about the frost (although our New Year's grandfather is on duty and in the summer, changing only the clothes to a light tunic), you can arrange an excellent bicycle route of different difficulty levels. Ecotourism in Belarus is becoming fashionable, and where else can you rest for the benefit of yourself and nature, if not in the Forest?
Between the past and the future
The place is really unique. By coincidence of some incredible circumstances, the Pushcha's climate is characterized by the shortest and warmest winter. I believed it when in the beginning of December I met a live but very chilled butterfly here. Here is the highest spruce in Europe, around which the kids drive the New Year round dances. And the image of the Pushcha’s Lake Lyadsky is used for cosmonauts' relaxation in space. Pushcha is for everyone.
Bialowieza bison ... This symbol of dense Pushcha forests. In the early twentieth century, he was completely exterminated in these forests. And only thanks to the people who brought here new animals from other reserves, the mighty beast still reigns in the forest.
Unfortunately, today the economic activity in the national park causes particular concern among the environmentalists of the world - deforestation is too intensive and not always deliberate. The man who once gave Belovezhskaya bison a new life, has now become a personal enemy - poachers are operating in the Pushcha. To catch them is almost impossible. After all, fleeing from prosecution, they throw the shot carcasses out of the car. Such a cynical hunt for the sake of hunting.
And yet the reserved forest is alive and hides many more secrets. You just need to solve them.
